Weekend Delight: Shangri-La Colombo's Yum Cha Experience

When it comes to sumptuous dining experiences in Colombo, Shangri-La stands out as a beacon of elegance and culinary excellence. Recently, my husband and I had the pleasure of indulging in their Weekend Yum Cha, and it was a culinary journey to remember. In this blog post, I'll take you through our delightful experience and the dishes that truly stole the show, including Dim Sum, Prawn Toasts, Spring Rolls, Lychee Iced Tea, and the unforgettable Char Siu Chicken and Pork.

Ambiance:

Shangri-La Colombo exudes sophistication, and their dining area is no exception. The ambiance is a perfect blend of modern luxury and traditional charm. We were seated in a cozy corner with a stunning view of the city, and it set the mood for a relaxed and enjoyable afternoon.

Yum Cha Highlights:

Dim Sum Delights: The star of the show, without a doubt, was the dim sum. Each delicate morsel was a work of art. The dumplings were perfectly steamed, with a thin, translucent skin that revealed the delicious fillings within. Whether it was shrimp, pork, or vegetable, every bite was a burst of flavor.

Prawn Toasts: The prawn toasts were a revelation. Crispy on the outside, yet soft and succulent on the inside, they were a delightful mix of textures. The prawn topping was generously portioned, adding a hint of sweetness to the dish.

Spring Rolls: The spring rolls were another favorite. Crispy, light, and filled with a medley of vegetables and meat, they were served with a delectable dipping sauce that elevated the experience.

Lychee Iced Tea: To wash down these flavorful dishes, we enjoyed the refreshing Lychee Iced Tea. It was the perfect balance of sweet and tart, making it a wonderful accompaniment to the savory treats.

Char Siu Chicken and Pork: The char siu chicken and pork were tender, succulent, and packed with flavor. The sweet and savory glaze on the char siu meats was a taste of perfection and left us craving for more.

Service:

The service at Shangri-La Colombo was impeccable. The staff were attentive and friendly, ensuring that our teacups were always filled and that we had a memorable dining experience. A special shoutout to Chef Samantha & Waiter Khaled. Their knowledge of the menu and willingness to accommodate dietary preferences added to the overall experience.

Conclusion:

The Weekend Yum Cha experience at Shangri-La Colombo is a culinary delight. From the exquisite dim sum to the delicious prawn toasts, every dish showcased the skill and dedication of the kitchen. The ambiance and service further elevated the experience, making it a perfect weekend treat. If you're looking for a taste of authentic Chinese cuisine in a luxurious setting, Shangri-La Colombo's Yum Cha is a must-visit. Our weekend was made extraordinary, thanks to these sumptuous dishes, and we'll be returning for more very soon.
